You are obvious a law abiding citizen all year round but come Halloween and you want to change gears and get into a gangster outfit and I do not blame you one bit.

Gangster costume outfits come in a large assortment of styles and colors, they are terrific fun and they serve as reenactments of roaring 20s and their widely acclaimed mobster and mafia activities. Wearing a Halloween gangster costume suit or a zoot suit, as it was often referred to in the 1920s, will legally and morally allow you to carry (toy) machine guns, brass knuckles and other implements of violence which you would otherwise not dare to. But again, this is Halloween so why not!

Are you ready to perform a couple of robberies in your new Halloween Gangster Outfit? Or perhaps you’re just in the mood to dance with your Flapper Girl or favorite gun moll.

Gangster outfits have never gone out of style insofar as wearing them for all types of costume oriented occasions. From brass knuckles to zoot suits, the 1920s revisits us constantly and offers lots of different conversations and fun. Tony Montana never looked better than in what we’re suggesting that men would like to wear at a costume party. Check out our suggestions below.

White Gangster Suit Outfit Costume
Available in Adult Size Large only.

This is one of the best representations of a White Gangster Suit Outfit that we’ve seen. It’s actually a pretty snazzy suit with a black and white stripe pattern for the double breasted jacket and trousers. The necessary black tie is also provided so that you don’t look like a wise guy, you look like a mobster.

It is easy to buy the requisite black hat online. You need that wide brim to complete the look. You can provide your own white shirt and black shoes from your closet unless you feel the need for a shirt from the 20s. You can also buy a thick cigar to carry around, which was a sign of the times. You will look so smooth you can practically get away with anything. There are many neat flapper outfits that your date can wear so you can win first prize at the party. This suit is designed to fit up to a 6’1” man.

Gangster Moll 6 Adult Halloween Costume Outfit
Available in Adult Sizes, S, M, L, X-L

This is one cool Gangster Moll 6 Outfit that’s available in plus sizes and other colors. A killer outfit that looks like it came straight from Chicago’s mob scene has a luxurious look with its pin-striped double breasted jacket and matching slacks with bell bottoms. The great tie has a gleaming gold dollar sign on it.

You will need to buy the hat separately online but you can use your own hose and shoes. Also available in Black/Pink and Black/Red, this suave yet sweet ensemble will create quite a stir as the wearer shows who the boss is!! You can buy a machine gun purse online for an extra added effect.

History reminds us that the 1920 Prohibition law wasn’t well received and that it became a national pastime to beat it. Mobster Al Capone had a brief career as a Chicago mob boss, generating more than $100 million a year in income. Others who were into gambling and stealing before the twenties, organized bootleggers who illegally sold liquor to speakeasies, among others, and subsequently also became multi-millionaires.

Gangsters Benjamin “Bugsy” Siegel and Meyer Lansky also formed a band of ruthless Jewish contract killers called Murder, Inc. Whatever it took! It didn’t matter if the mob were wearing a zoot suit or casual clothes, a brass knuckle or a gun got them what they wanted. The twenties weren’t all music and dancing although each woman in the mafia clan seemingly would have liked it to be.

Another wiseguy carry-over from the 20s, who is remembered for his life of crime, is Antonio “Tony” Montana. Born in Cuba and having served as a soldier and prisoner of war, Tony went to Miami where he used his skills as an assassin. Depicted in the 1983 Oliver Stone film Scarface, played by Al Pacino, Tony became a cultural icon from the 30s and one of the most famous movie gangsters of all time. Since the release of the film featuring Tony’s life, his quote, “Say hello to my little friend” has been parodied many times. In the world of Hip Hop, this man is seen as a role model for his rise from poverty and his appetite for violence. Suits worn by these mobsters are a bargain. If you buy the costumes featured above, everyone will know you’re portraying a mobster or a pimp.

Question: Do you know who were the most notorious gangsters in U.S. history?

In a way of an answer I shall name but a handful: Joseph Adonis (New York & New Jersey 1902-1972), Albert Anastasia (New York 1903-1957), Arizona Donnie Clark Baker (Missouri 1872-1935), Clyde Chesternut Barrow of Bonnie and Clyde (Texas 1909-1934), Joseph Bonnano (Brooklyn 1905-2002), J. Theodore Robert Bundy (Florida 1946-1988) and my favorite Al Capone (Chicago 1900-1944).

Many popular movies and television shows have been produced about gangster type characters and my favorite among them is the 1967 “Bonnie and Clyde” film that depicts the well known Bonnie Parker (portrayed by Faye Dunaway) and Clyde Barrow ( portrayed by Warren Beatty) who were prominent on the American crime scene during the Roaring Twenties and the Great Depression as their criminal activities spanned throughout Central United States.
